How to Pick the Right Loading Crew
By Dumpster Helpers · September 30, 2026 · 4 min read
Crew size, hourly rate, minimum hours, insurance and background checks: what to compare when choosing help to load your dumpster.
Choosing a loading crew is mostly about matching the crew to the job. Here’s what to look at when you compare listings on Dumpster Helpers.
Crew Size and Hourly Rate
Each crew lists one hourly rate for the whole crew. A larger crew costs more per hour but often finishes sooner, so the total can be similar or even lower. Heavy furniture and appliances usually need at least two people to move safely.
Minimum Hours
Every crew sets a minimum number of hours. For a small job, a crew with a lower minimum may cost less even if its hourly rate is higher. Compare the estimated total for your job, not just the rate.
Levels: Insurance and Background Checks
Every listing shows a level. Insured businesses carry general liability insurance, which matters if something gets damaged. Background-checked helpers have passed a check through Checkr. Individual helpers don’t carry insurance, and you’ll be asked to confirm you understand that before booking one. Listings are ranked from the highest level down.
Equipment
Listings show the equipment each helper brings, like a dolly, wheelbarrow, moving blankets or straps. If your job has heavy appliances or a lot of yard debris, pick a crew with the right gear.
